“After years of being a photographer who endeavored to create work that looked like paintings, I joined our local art group for a watercolour class. I was excited by the challenge of learning many new skills and delighted with the opportunity to tell stories with my art.
In 2024, I was awarded a John Withers Emerging Artist Scholarship through the Watercolour Society of Victoria which encouraged me greatly. Classes, workshops and mentoring have continued to inspire me and opened many doors, along with my circle of friends and family, who have supported me throughout my journey.
I found entering local art shows such as Birregurra, is a great way to share works and be part of the community.
This is my first prize and it is such a validating and thrilling experience. I am so excited and thankful to be recognized at Birregurra. Many thanks to all involved Sponsors, Committee, Judge, Volunteers and the Community.”
