Chris Hoggard: 2019 "1st Prize 3D & Sculpture"

“A love for my garden has always been the motivation for my quirky ceramic garden ornaments. “

Chris Hoggard, Ceramic Artist

It is five years since Chris Hoggard retired from teaching Art and Visual Communication after thirty-three years, and started running pottery classes in hand building and decorating at her studio in Warncoort - just “up the road” from Birregurra. This is the cradle of her many ceramic creations and the place where she enjoys the company of her adult students during morning and afternoon classes on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Having completed her Graduate Diploma in ceramics at Federation University (Ballarat) in 2018, Chris has been pursuing new and different projects to further her skills in this medium.

She  was excited to receive an “Emerging Artist Award” in March at 2019 South West International Women’s Day Art Prize in Warnambool for her sculpture “Repetition”, representing the monotonous daily chores that are routine for many women raising children, working and battling to find time for themselves.

Chris Hoggard has been exhibiting at the Birregurra Art Show for many years. Her sculpture “Trapped” - a hare enclosed in a glass dome - won 1st prize in the “Sculpture and 3D Works” catagory at the 2019  Birregurra Art Show.
