In their 20 November Arts Focus edition, the Colac Herald - a long standing sponsor of the Birregurra Art Show - reported on the success of the exhibition of the Art Club.
For the first time, facilitated by funds donated by the Birregurra Art Show Committee, the fabulous Ms. Jess was able to run Art Club over all four terms.
Jason Smith, judge at the 2023 Birregurra Art Show and Director and CEO of Geelong Gallery, loved judging the works of our young artists.
Kylie Edwards, who manages activities for young and old at the Birregurra Community Health Center expressed her appreciation:
“With the funding from the Birregurra Art Show, the number of children doubled, and it’s been so wonderful watching them excitedly run in every week on Tuesday afternoon!
The kids were thrilled to be in the competition and to have their pictures and artwork in the local paper. Thank you for making this wonderful and needed activity accessible for everyone.”
The creative powerhouse behind the Art Club, Jess Parker (Ms Jess), commented:
“Art Club is such a beautiful way to cater to the creative kids in Birregurra and to offer them a space to explore their interests and talents.
Most of the kids currently attending have been coming all year and have notably grown in confidence and self-expression.
It was a real highlight for them to be invited to exhibit and have their work judged as part of the annual Birregurra Art Show.”
Prizes were sponsored by the Birregurra Art Show and awarded to:
Hettie Gallagher (1st Prize) for “The Blood Moon”
Aliyah Newcombe (2nd Prize) for “Painted Rocks”
Eliza Callahan (3rd Prize) for “Sunset”
The Birregurra Art Show Committee is pleased to announce that they will continue to sponsor Kids Art Club in 2024.
