In early 2023 the Birregurra Art Show Committee awarded funds to the Birregurra Community Health Centre (BCHC) to run arts activities for young and old.
The center piece of the grant is utilised to run the Arts Club for kids aged P - 6, now for the full 2023 school year!
Every Tuesday, “Ms Jess” is gathering an excited bundle of young artists to get creative at the BCHC.
During the first term, Printmaking was the theme that inspired the children.
A big thank-you to Kylie Edwards from Colac Area Health for organising the series of workshops. Here is what Kylie shared with us after the first term came to an end this week:
“Art Club was a great success this term. With sponsorship from the Birregurra Art Show our number of keen participants tripled to 16 from the previous term. Ms Jess covered Printmaking with many different mediums each week and every Tuesday afternoon the centre was buzzing with excited kids. Many have said they don’t want to stop and can’t wait until next term. The program has been a great addition to the offerings at the Birregurra Health Centre and we are excited to watch it grow.“
And wait, there is more! During the Easter school holidays, BCHC will host a textile workshop for kids: Make a fabric bowl - of course again with the wonderful Ms Jess.
